PUR and the environment – PUR eco-efficient

Optimal environmental balance, 100 % safe: polyurethane does not give off any gases and is completely odourless. The material can not dry out, pulverize or decay by fungi. And in contrast to many other insulation materials, polyurethane insulation is not a source of food for insects and mice.

Polyurethane retains its shape and can not fold or subside.

And a very important point: polyurethane does not contain any fibres which makes that it can be cut to size and mounted without any special precautions.

Polyurethane is used in the construction industry, as it is one of the most efficient insulation materials. The foam is extremely durable: it preserves its special characteristics throughout the life span of the building. PUR insulation plates have already proved their durable nature of 50 years and more.

Thanks to the excellent insulation value of polyurethane, we can reduce the production and transportation volume by 50 % in comparison with traditional insulation products. It goes without saying that this evolution has the same effect on waste-disposal.

PUR waste-disposal and recycling has to be considered globally together with the total life cycle of the material. During a life cycle of 50 years or more, polyurethane insulation plates have saved 100 times more energy than the intrinsic energy necessary to manufacture the plates. During this same period, good insulation has avoided many more other emissions.
