CE and KEYMARK

From 13 May 2003 onwards producers of insulation products for the construction sector are obliged to label their products with the CE-mark. The European Constructions Products Directive (CPD) states that products for construction purposes must meet a number of requirements in order to qualify for CE marking. The CE label simplifies the comparison between the different types of materials and therefore makes the choice for the consumer easier. The main advantage for the producer is that he can introduce his products on the European market a lot easier. The CE label functions as a European passport for construction materials. Products that do not have the CE mark can not (in principle) be sold on the European market.
Apart from a number of basic characteristics (such as board dimensions), the CE label contains a number of declared values as demanded by the European harmonised product standard. Declaring those characteristics, e.g. lambda value and fire behaviour, is the result of intense in company control and external testing by recognised laboratories.
By use of the CE label the producer indicates that the product meets the demands required by the CPD and that it conforms to the harmonised European product standard - BS EN 13165 for our products.
The CE label is a mark of conformity however it is not a quality label.

That is why Recticel Insulation has decided to label its products with the Keymark.
The Keymark is a voluntary label. Its main objective is to continuously guarantee the quality of a product.
First of all, the product undergoes a number of initial tests.
Secondly, a third party audits the producer in order to ascertain whether his quality assurance system functions adequately. This third party also certifies the product.
The Keymark is in fact the security code of the European passport, because this system validates the information declared on the CE label.
Because both labels are complementary, the continuous quality of the product is guaranteed.
