The Recticel team has created the bespoke solution to meet and match the exact requirements of client Apex Roofing & Cladding. The roofing contractor has designed a barrel vault roof construction for the scheme with an outer curvature of 16 linear metres.
The curved element of the ‘Eurodeck’ panels was achieved during the manufacturing process by Recticel thereby creating a true curve rather than a faceted formation – this in turn, allowed ease of installation whilst also speeding up the labour process.
The Eurodeck boards are mechanically fixed into position to a structural roof deck at the initial stages of the project. In total, 1,800m² of the 90mm Eurodeck boards will be installed at the project - roofing work commenced at the scheme for main contractor Carillion in November 2006 and is set for completion in May 2007.
The Eurodeck boards have been designed to offer a lightweight yet extremely rigid and flat board. Recticel offers a range of single layer boards (up to 150mm thick) that can be installed and completed in one stage thus the eliminating extended labour, time and cost implications often associated with other two-layer systems.
Ian Claydon, Recticel Technical Manager commented: “This scheme demonstrates the true flexibility of the Eurodeck boards. We are able to offer a bespoke solution that can meet the challenging demands of almost any roofing project.”
