Working closely with specialist roofing contractor, MW Contracts (Roofing) Ltd, the tapered Eurothane Bi-3A boards have been installed on the concrete and timber frame buildings to achieve an average U-value of 0.15 W/m²K.
The eight main roof areas all drain into central rain water outlets around numerous obstacles such as lift shafts and roof access hatches. The complex tapered insulation scheme was designed in-house by Recticel Insulation Products to achieve the design U-value of 0.15 W/m²K with the board thickness starting at 60mm and rising to a maximum of 255mm. This very low U-value was dictated by the requirement for a particularly high SAP Rating.
Tapered Eurothane Bi-3A boards are available where is not desirable or technically possible to create the falls in the roof structure. Tapered roof insulation systems are lightweight and avoid the need for designing complex falls within the structure or the need for heavy screeds and associated extended drying times. The board is particularly useful in refurbishment projects where it offers a simple, lightweight solution to ponding problems whilst at the same time upgrading the thermal insulation of the roof.
Chris Hall, Sales and Marketing Director at Recticel Insulation Products commented:
“The Eurothane Bi-3A board was chosen for this project as a bespoke solution to ensure correct roof drainage and to achieve the very stringent insulation requirement.”
