Powerdeck chosen for new retail development

Over 5000sqm of 90mm Recticel Powerdeck has been installed on Wigan's new shopping development, The Grand Arcade.

A brand new shopping arcade in the heart of Wigan has utilised over 5000sqm of Recticel’s innovative Powerdeck flat roof insulation board, ensuring the imposing roof area is insulated to the highest UK standard.

Working closely with waterproof membrane manufacturers Axter, both organisations are supplying directly to client Roofdec who is overseeing all roofing works at the new Grand Arcade, in Wigan town centre.

One of the few FM approved systems available in the UK, used collaboratively, the Powerdeck/Axter product offers a high quality insulation with an outstanding fire performance.

The Powerdeck boards have been developed to offer a lightweight yet extremely rigid and flat board, allowing ease of installation. Recticel offers a 90mm single layer board that can be installed and completed in one stage, eliminating extended labour, time and cost implications often associated with other two-layer systems. Recticel is the leading UK manufacturer of thicker, single-layer insulation systems.

This current development phase began in December last year and is set for completion in March 2006. Once finalised in spring 2007, Wigan’s Grand Arcade, comprising 425,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art shopping area, will house some of the UK’s best known retail outlets.

David Kemp, UK General Manager of Recticel Insulation Products commented: “The Powerdeck product was chosen for this project through its ability to offer a high quality, durable and lasting insulation solution. Recticel aims to continue to introduce innovative and high quality materials and products to the UK that meet and often exceed the demands of this specific market.”
