CE

CE-label

Since 13 May 2003, manufacturers of insulation products intended for construction have been obliged to mark their products with a CE label. The European Construction Products Directive states that construction products must meet a number of essential requirements in order to qualify for CE marking. The CE label makes the comparison between different types of materials very easy for the consumer. The advantage for the manufacturer is that he can more easily introduce his product to the European market. The CE label therefore functions as the European passport for such construction products. Without an CE marking, an insulation product may not be traded.

In addition to a number of basic characteristics (such as sheet dimensions), the CE label also contains a number of declared properties imposed by the European harmonized product standards. Declaring such a property, such as insulation value or fire behavior, is the result of intensive testing at the factory itself and by recognized external laboratories.

With the CE label, the manufacturer indicates that the product meets the essential requirements of the European Construction Products Directive and that the product is traded in accordance with the harmonized European product standards.
