CPD Presentations
CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is mandatory in many professions, including architecture, and offers professionals the chance to stay up-to- date and competent with current practice. RIBA Chartered Architects must complete at least 35 hours of CPD each year (with 20 coming from the RIBA CPD Core Curriculum), while CIAT requires the same number of hours from its members.
As part of Recticel’s service to architects, specifiers and design professionals, Recticel Insulation offers industry-recognised CPD material, available throughout the year and on site at your premises. There are a number of traditional CPD seminars available; lasting for 30-45 minutes with time for questions and answers, as well as a selection of 'CPD Articles' available online.
Recticel's CPD seminars are available across the UK and can be booked online or via Recticel Technical Support. To register your interest, please complete the form below or access the Recticel section of the RIBA CPD website here.
1) Rigid Full Fill Cavity Wall Insulation: a Toolbox Talk
Available formats: seminar presentation
Part of the RIBA Core Curriculum? Yes
Listed on the CIAT CPD Register? No
This seminar gives an overview of the insulation solutions used with brick and block cavity wall construction. It will assist with understanding of the following topics:
- The evolution of cavity wall construction and how thermal targets have driven the development of insulation products, including rigid board solutions
- Traditional insulation solutions for cavity walls
- The differences between rigid partial-fill and rigid full-fill solutions
- Issues to consider in design, specification and construction to ensure the best performance from rigid full fill solutions
2) U-value Calculations and Condensation Risk
Available formats: seminar presentation and CPD article
Part of the RIBA Core Curriculum? Yes
Listed on the CIAT CPD Register? Yes
This seminar looks at the fundamentals of heat transfer, insulation, U-value calculations and condensation risk. It aims to improve the confidence of the audience in designing and specifying insulation solutions, and understanding what factors can influence typical constructions and their ability to achieve the intended performance.
- Overview of heat transfer and insulation properties
- Thermal performance of materials and calculation of R-values and U-values
- How and why condensation occurs
- Placement of vapour control layers and breather membranes to achieve best performance
3) Reducing the Performance Gap through Fabric First
Available formats: seminar presentation and CPD article
Part of the RIBA Core Curriculum? Yes
Listed on the CIAT CPD Register? Yes
The actual 'as built' energy performance of buildings
4) Single layer insulation systems - the future of tapered roofing
Explains the concept of tapered roofing insulation compared to other solutions.
- Highlights the advantages of single layer tapered roofing
- Suits all levels of knowledge in designing or specifying roofing insulation
